‘Am I dreading being 50 next month?’ The honest answer is ‘No’.
I have to admit that, over the last two or three years, I was a bit apprehensive – after all it IS half a century – but I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not so bad after all. I can even say I’m looking forward to it. It’s a time in my life when I’ve never felt so confident, so honest with myself and who I am.
So ask yourself this: ‘Is 50 the new 40?’ Hell yes!
Never has there been a better time to grasp your life and enjoy it. To be confidently and unashamedly you. We have many experiences of life behind us and there’s not much we haven’t heard, seen or done. Shouldn’t we all be looking forward to the next half a century. Again, I say ‘Hell, yes!’
So when it comes to style and dressing, why is that some of us lose the mojo to wear what we want or lose the confidence to know how to dress at our age? To dress at our age – what does that mean? It’s a media message from a bygone era, and good riddance to it! Should we really settle down now and be happy with elasticated waistband trousers and smock tops to cover ourselves up, to fade into the background and tend to our roses every day?
Fashion should be fun – a few basics and the right styles for you, shaken up with a few frivolous bits and pieces and you’re there. Now it’s time to find your style and wear the most important accessory – complete confidence in your clothes. I’m not suggesting we all go out and party every night but come on. Let’s grasp these opportunities, get some colour into our lives and change people’s perception of middle age as they think they know it!
So, into my next half-century – bring it on!
The way we present ourselves is an unspoken communication. My driving force is to empower real men and women to embrace their style and discover the confidence it brings. We are all getting older and the future can be whatever we want it to be.
